sweet.

I'm not sure how I found this but it is adorable. I believe every girl deserves to be loved this much. I won't lie to you...I cried when I watched this. It's very sweet.

back on the blog.

I am so happy to be back on the blog radar to spend some quality time with Delightfully Sassy. And, of course many more of my favorite blogosphere friends!

However, here are some highlights of my life the past couple weeks:

1.) Birthday- was a couple of weeks ago and It was SUCH a great week! Yes, I celebrated for an entire week! I spent the day of my birthday working in the morning, wrote a cover letter for a job at Disney in the afternoon, and had a small celebration with friends for dinner.

The day after, a bunch of my girlfriends took me out on the town for some cocktails and fun!

On Saturday night I had a wonderful seafood dinner with my family...

And on Sunday, my sorority pledge class, and I, had some delicious dinner and drinks at the famous Montage restaurant in Portland. Such a great time! Here we are...11 of us...

Top row: Megan, SaraMac, Chelsey, Kristen, Briana, Kelly.
Bottom row: Kali, Mallory, Alyssa, Me, Erica
Missing: Sarah, Lauren, Alicia

Also, we discussed options for the next birthday party (lauren's) and boy do we have some great ideas! You just wait Lauren, you will love what we have in store for you! :)

2.) I've been thinking a lot about the people of Haiti. Every time I pick up a newspaper or sign on to my facebook, I see the devastation the earthquake has caused. It's incredibly sad and I wish I had enough money to re-build the entire community for those poor people. My heart seriously goes out to them all!

3.) I have been spending a lot of great, quality time with my roommate Erica. We've cooked together, drank together, been sick together, napped together, watching several movies together, and online shopped together all within the past 2 weeks. I've enjoyed every minute- she is a fabulous friend and roommate!

4.) I've been in the process of making Casey a very unique Valentines day present. I can't discuss much about it, but it's the best present i've gotten him yet! I cant wait until he sees it.

5.) I've been Dieting. Well.... more like detoxing. It's been for the best... trust me. In all actuality, I HAVE been eating a lot better the past few weeks...with some minor frozen yogurt setbacks. whooops.

6.) I have become quite the work-a-holic lately. I've been doing a lot of Career Outreach stuff around the OSU community; including a TON of public speaking engagements. I've been promoting OSU career resources and discussing different tools to make yourself marketable in this economy.

Also, we have been super busy planning the Non-profit Career Expo, going on tomorrow in the MU basement. AND the...OSU Career Fair/Engineering Fair February 16th & 17th. It's a lot of work, but totally worth it!

7.) I have a new design project. It's a Healthcare Project featuring a renovation of the children's wing at the Newberg Providence Hospital in Newberg, Oregon. We are re-designing the Children's Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Mental Therapy units, as well as everything in-between. Stay tuned...

8.) Measures 66 & 67 passed in the state of Oregon, as of this morning. I'm not excited about it. I voted "NO" on the measures. I believe the bill was poorly written and the State Legislature is horrible at state funding and budgeting. What needs to be done... I believe is...they need to go back to the drawing board and re-evaluate their budgets.

Now, we are taxing more money for small businesses, which will eventually lead to more bankruptcy and unemployment for our poor, little, beaver state. (sigh)...

On a more positive note....

9.) I have been working a TON on Job Applications and my Portfolio to send out to companies. I really want to create a brand for my name and market myself in a creative, professional way. So far, my materials have developed well...but, no interviews yet. I'm trying to stay patient and....how did my mother put it? ......"optimistically hopeful".

I hope something comes of all my hard work soon.

10.) I have been sleeping a lot lately. I honestly don't know what's wrong with me, but I have been tired for a week straight! Yesterday I didn't wake up until 2 pm!! WHAT!!?? I haven't slept that long, for like...ever! It was very strange. I guess my body just needs some rest. I am a much happier person when I get my rest.

I hope you all are enjoying your Wednesday; only 2 more days until the weekend!

H A P P Y 30th Wedding A N N I V E R S A R Y to Mom & Dad!!

They are busy celebrating together in Cancun Mexico right now. Tough life huh?!? But, I hope they are having a great time because they both really deserve it, they are such fantastic parents!

I love you both! Drink a Margarita for me!

Just Write.

Well friends, I've had some blogging commitment issues lately.

If you haven't been able to tell...
It's not that I don't want to write...because BELIEVE ME...I DO!!

I've just been so insanely busy lately that I haven't had any time for blogging fun.

I will try, try hard this week to put some Delightfully Sassy time on my radar so I can get back to reading about all of you and posting what is new with me!

I miss you all and I promise to be back in action soon!

to make you laugh.

I found these via A Cup Of Jo and seriously laughed out loud. I hope they make you laugh!

1. Okay, so you drop something on the floor...what do you do? It seems there is a scientific calculation to assist you with your next move. Ha! Ha! Ha!

2. Check out this optical illusion. Pretty silly.

Okay...here's what you're looking at...
Notice the girl in the background?... and her cute booty?

NOT! Now look at the girl in the foreground...she has a shoulder...duh!

Did you laugh? I hope I made you laugh.

Have a great weekend!

Help for Haiti

For those of us from the northwest, this one hits especially hard...

One of our own, Yvenson Bernard, former OSU running back and a native of Haiti, has reached out to former colleagues and friends to gather donations for his home country. Yvenson plans to travel to Haiti in two weeks and bring donations to the earthquake destroyed country. He wrote the following e-mail to request support:

Hello everyone,

As you have heard Haiti had a catastrophic earthquake this week. My family and I are from Haiti and much of my family is still living there now so I am starting a Haiti Relief Fundraiser. Haiti is the poorest country in the western hemisphere, so relief is absolutely needed for survival!

We are accepting new hygiene products, all types of new and used clothing and shoes, as well as money donations. I am traveling to Haiti in two weeks to respond to this tragedy. All proceeds go to Haiti Relief! Any help would be appreciated! Thank you SO much and God Bless.

Today is my 23rd Birthday.

Today is my big 2-3!! My only Birthday wish this year is to hear from all those I love most in this world. :) That's always my favorite part about Birthdays.

As I get older I am reminded everyday of the things I love and hope to never forget as my life goes on and I continue to always turn another year older...

I hope I never forget...

  • How lovely I feel when I’m dressed up
  • How magical I think rainbows are
  • How much I love driving with the sunroof open in the summertime
  • The tears in my father’s eyes when he dropped me off at college for the first time
  • How to create
  • The many conversations my mother has had with me about taking care of myself
  • How hard I had to work at my first job to afford my first car
  • The day my brother left for the east coast and how sad my family was without him
  • How excited I get around animals- even if it’s just the baby ducks crossing the road
  • How fortunate I am to have such amazing girlfriends
  • How thankful I am to be healthy
  • How excited I am to be a mom- someday.
  • How horrible it feels to break someone else’s heart
  • The way that I feel when he looks at me
  • How amazing it will feel when I complete my education in 8 weeks.

I'm looking forward to a great birthday and all of the magic, I'm hopeful, that 23 will bring.

...okay, i'm ready Kati...Bring on the anti-wrinkle cream!

a tired tuesday.

My roommate, Erica and I have had the worst time sleeping lately.

This morning we conversed about our sleeping experiences the past few days and both agreed that today was going to be especially difficult to get through. We both just need a good-nights sleep. bad.

If you have any ideas out there... please send them our way. Our crankiness is beginning to catch up with us.

Today this is how we both feel...

Fabulous & Fascinating & Female

So, remember the weekly feature I began last week?

This week my fabulous, fascinating, friend is my big sister, Anne.

Well, She's actually my sorority big sister, but a fabulous big sister, nonetheless. She is the closest I will ever come to having a sister of my own.

I chose Anne this week because of some special memories that evoked wistful emotion this past weekend. It was sorority initiation and I couldn't help but think of my initiation memories and spending them with my new big sister, Anne. It was a wonderful memory that I know I will never forget.

Dear Anne,

You are an incredible woman. Your sincerity and friendship and beautiful soul inspires me, and your love for life, and those around you, teaches me to be a better woman. You are everything I could ever ask for in a friend. I believe, with all my heart, that you were the reason I never had a sister. Instead, God gave me you. And for that, I am eternally grateful. You are so special to me and purely irreplaceable. I cant wait to spend the rest of my life being your friend.

Some Boudoir Photos

Portland's fabulous photographer, Laura, from Elle Images Photography alongside Julie Flood Photography are presenting a super fun and amazing gift idea for Valentines day.

Together, they are holding an elegant Boudoir photo shoot event at the luxurious Nines Hotel in Portland.

It sounds like such a fun time accompanied by champagne, loveliness and fabulous girlfriends.

If you are interested in booking a photo shoot session or would like more information contact Laura at laura@elleimagesphoto.com

minnie in vogue

Love Minnie! Love Vogue! And Love the elephants!

As for the spread...? Well I'm not too sure about it...

The photography and the composition are beautiful.

However, the concept...it's interesting, but sort of funny to me. I guess that's the point.

I'm going to think about this one a little more.

Fabulous & Fascinating & Female

In the light of being inspired this week, I have decided to display a weekly feature. I have been a lucky woman, raised by powerful, successful, fabulously-fun women, who have all positively contributed to my life. I have spent my life being inspired by woman; the aspirations they seek and the support they provide. I've decided to write a column each week, emphasizing a woman who has, in some way, inspired my life.

This week the fabulous, fascinating, female is one of my great girlfriends, and sorority sister, Mallory. Today is her Birthday and I wish I was in Portland so I could celebrate with her over some margaritas. Don't worry Mal, I'll make it up to you...I promise!

Dear Mallory:

I think you're wonderful. I am so thankful that you are my friend. I am grateful for the many fantastic memories we share and the support that we have for one another. You are an amazing friend. Your compassion for others and genuine class is what I truly love most about you. I hope that today is filled with a lot of birthday magic and love from those who think you're wonderful too.

delicious. decor.

Alison Rubke is the co-owner of the incredibly darling, French-inspired lingerie boutique Faire Frou Frou located in Studio City, California. Faire Frou Frou is pronounced ‘fair fru fru’ and comes from a French phrase meaning “show it off”. Cute huh?

So, how does a lingerie boutique owner decorate?

“She takes her creativity, carves out three days (mainly for repainting her floors and furniture white), and sets her mind on transforming her bedroom into a lovely sanctuary for all things beautiful and pink. Alison did all of the work herself for this incredible result. Images on this post show her gorgeous, new bedroom.”

post- holiday eating stress

Did you eat too much over the holiday?

Now that the holidays are over, it's time to get back to a normal, healthy routine.

Monday marked my first day back to the gym in a month and boy did I feel the pain! Now that i've eaten all the chocolate, ice cream and whip cream mochas that I could find--it's time to return to my healthier eating habits. Here is a good article i found at about.com:exercise. All things that I will seriously consider as I try to shed these extra lbs I've gained during all the holiday cheer.

  • Get moving. It may be the last thing you feel like doing, but getting the blood flowing is the perfect remedy for a food hangover. Think simple -- walking, light strength training, or yoga. Even a few minutes can boost your mood and your energy levels.
  • Drink water. That bloating you're experiencing could be due to an overload of salt, which can cause water retention. Many holiday favorites contain way more salt than the body needs, so drinking extra water can help you get rid of the extra bloat.
  • Eat lightly. After eating too much, you may be tempted to declare, "I'll never eat again!" You may also be amazed that you're actually hungry after all that eating. Starving yourself, however, isn't the answer. Nibble on light fare such as salad, soup, sandwiches and fruit to give your body nutrients without overloading it with calories.
  • Make a plan. One of the worst side effects of eating too much is the guilt that comes after. Guilt is sometimes inevitable, but you can use that feeling to motivate you into something better. Make a plan for the next few days for how you'll get back on track with your eating and exercise. Just the act of planning can make you feel better...just make sure you follow through.
  • Plan for the future. Last, take some time to think about the mistakes you made this season and what you can do to avoid those same mistakes in the future. Doing this can also help you make good choices more consistently so that overindulgence isn't a frequent problem.

rebel wishing.

I’m going to try a little experiment this year.

For Christmas I received $120 total in cash & checks.

I’ve been obsessing, to say the least, about this Canon Rebel camera ESO 12.2 megapixel for about…oh I’d say, two months now…

The only teeny tiny problem is… I unfortunately do not have an extra $575 just lying around somewhere. So…..(drum roll please)….

I am going to have to save the money, the good ole’ fashion way, and earn the camera myself.

Luckily, I am the kind of girl that wishes (and works) hard enough for the things that I want most in life.

In fact, my lifelong motto has always been “I usually get what I want in life...and if I do not, well…then I probably didn’t want it that much anyway…”

Here I come Rebel… only $455 to go!

12 days until I’m 23.

new years magic

Only a few hours into 2010 and I can already feel the magic!

I feel like 2010 has a lot in store for me this year. Here are some things I was thinking…

WHAT WILL HOPEFULLY ACCOMPANY 2010:

a canon rebel SLR camera.

Frequent donations (money or time) to charities

A career (not a 'job') offer with decent compensation

A move to Seattle

Trip to Thailand

Some toned arms. ...and maybe some legs, butt and abs...

Lots of laughter and good company
